The big day has finally come ! At the end of this day, your half and you will be united for better and for worse. But, what if we first avoided the worst ? We all know that a wedding is a moment full of emotion, but it’s also a major source of stress. As future newly-weds, you wish this day to be a successful wedding and remains etched in memories as the best wedding ever ! First of all there is no need to add any stress of completing tasks on the wedding day, so make sure all your projects are done !

To ensure that the most significant event of your life unfolds like clockwork, here are some tips to be stress free on the big day !

To start the day in the best possible way, take a hearty breakfast and try to make your appointment for hair and makeup as soon as possible. If you’re getting your hair and makeup done with your wedding party, have yours done before the others to make sure that you will be styled and ready first and so that you will get to the ceremony on time. Better to be early than late, planning an extra time, just in case, will help you to be more relaxed and peaceful. Don’t forget that the hair and make up portion of the day is a fun chance to share a special moment with your mother, maid of honor and bridesmaids, so enjoy it !

When the ceremony happens, remember that the bride always stands to the left of her father to cross the aisle and to the left of her future husband in front of the altar. This traditional wedding standing order comes from the old years, when the groom needed to leave his right hand free, because that was his fighting hand he used to hold his sword, in the event that he should need to defend his bride in case of danger.

Throughout the day, keep in mind and be reassured you won’t be alone and that you can rely on your bridal party to assist you. Needless to say, the bridal party has to be a support for the bride and groom through some stages of the wedding planning. Don’t hesitate to delegate them some specific tasks, such as bringing the wedding rings, confirming that the flowers, the wedding cake have arrived on time, for example. Name a go-to person who knows just as much about the wedding as you do and who will relieve you from being the go-to person for every question. Forecast a master of ceremony, someone with charisma who will guide the guests when needed, for the wedding photographs, for the cocktail and then the reception. Bridesmaids are also here to make sure you are looking your best way at every time, so they should carry an emergency bridal kit on the day including aspirin, corsage pins, make up, hair spray, perfume. Plan ahead with final payments for vendors and have them ready. You can write cheques and put them into separate envelopes with the names of each vendor and designate a trusted person, your parents or your maid of honor, to distribute them, so you don’t have to worry about it. Delegating is the key to a successful wedding !

Another tip that could be given to you, take a few minutes just for the two of you. You will probably be so overcome that you will want and need a little alone time to enjoy the moment and have fun together. It can be during your portrait pictures or you can also overshadow during the cocktail. Some of the most special minutes of the day are the few you get to spend with the person whom you love most in the world. And it may sound obvious, but try to stay together as a couple and not chatting to guests individually so you will enjoy the experience of your wedding day together.

On your big day, having the time to enjoy a full meal is almost an impossible mission, but you will need to eat something, even if it’s just a five-minute dinner date. If you don’t, it could make you feel sick, irritable, and tired. Dedicate somebody to look after you and make sure you’ve eaten and drunk something. You can also ask your caterer to pack away food for you for the moment you’ll get back at the end of the night.

Truthfully, it probably won’t all go as planned and some things might not work the way you imagined. Our best advice is not to get too caught up in the details, take a step back and try to think of the big picture. Remember what is important, you are marrying the love of your life and you will still be married at the end of the day, focus on this !
Attitude is everything on a wedding day and it’s up to you to decide how you will react, so don’t let small details ruin your day. Besides, guests don’t notice a small detail gone awry.

As the time of their wedding approaches, brides often fall into worrying about logistics. And no matter how much you are willing to try to do everything by yourself, realistically, you won’t be able to. Soliciting the help of a wedding coordinator can be a huge relief. They can confirm your vendors, coordinate your event, make decisions, finish crossing off any other last-minute tasks etc.
Hire a wedding planner, or if you don’t have the budget to, hire at least a day-coordinator so that you will be more relaxed and able to enjoy your wedding day and spend time with your loved ones. On your big day, you don’t have to plan on doing anything other than being a bride, you deserve to have everyone else do anything for you. And no matter how good the intentions are in the beginning, nobody can replace an experienced wedding planner.

The best advice we can give you is to remember why you’re celebrating. This is your wedding and this is a once-in-a-lifetime event so do your best to enjoy every single moment. Your wedding day will fly by faster than you could ever imagine. You can’t control everything so don’t obsess about perfection and take a moment to look around at the people that mean the world to you and your partner.  If something goes wrong, you’re surrounded by people who are willing to help and support you and at the end, love is all that matters.
